Job summary

Chromalox is hiring an Associate Application Engineer to analyze heating applications and design customer-focused solutions. You will support the sales team with technical input, quotes, and order feasibility across engineering and plant functions.

Qualifications

• At least 1+ years of related experience or equivalent degree.
• BS degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong organization.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/presentation communication skills.
• Strong customer service and time management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and quote premium solutions for standard and customer-specific thermal applications.
• Coordinate quotation and order entry activities with sales, estimation, engineering, and plant personnel.
• Understand markets and competition to manage quotations of designs.
• Review terms, drawings, and specs to identify key customer requirements.
• Assist sales engineers with offering optimal thermal solutions.
• Determine materials and cost requirements with engineering, estimation, purchasing.
• Manage pricing and margin targets for key accounts and new opportunities.
• Become proficient in using product design and pricing tools.
• Assist customers and reps in troubleshooting equipment/applications.
• Partner with design engineering and sales for order support.
• Lead meetings to communicate dates to customers for large orders.
• Document, analyze, and improve processes; support or lead improvement projects.

The Role:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Application Engineering, the Associate Application Engineer will analyze heating applications to design innovative, customer-focused solutions. You will work on customer quotes to develop cost-effective solutions for each unique heating and temperature control application. The Associate Application Engineer position is vital in providing technical support to our sales team and will partner with design engineering to give design and order support across the organization.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design and quote premium solutions for standard and customer-specific thermal applications.
• Coordinate quotation and order entry activities with sales force, estimation, engineering, and plant personnel, including sample orders and drawings for approval.
• Understand markets and competition in each market to manage quotations of competitive designs.
• Review terms and conditions, customer drawings, and specification packages to identify key requirements of the customer request.
• Assist sales engineers with expertise in offering optimal thermal solutions for unique applications.
• Determine materials and related cost requirements for product designs by working with engineering, estimation, and purchasing departments.
• Manage pricing and margin targets for crucial accounts and new opportunities.
• Become proficient in using product design and pricing tools.
• Assist customers and representatives in troubleshooting common problems with equipment or applications.
• Strategically partner with design engineering and sales to be vital in designing and order support.
• Lead meetings with engineering, estimation, production, project management, finance, and sales to gain visibility and communicate accurate dates to customers for large order opportunities.
• Assist in documenting, analyzing, and improving processes.
• Support or facilitate process improvement projects and strategic projects as required.

Requirements:

• At least 1+ years of related experience; an appropriate technical degree or equivalent experience is required.
• A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred.
• Working experience with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with solid organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation formats to all audiences.
• Strong customer service and time management skills.
