Job description

Creating Peace of Mind by Pioneering Safety and Security

At Allegion, we help keep the people you know and love safe and secure where they live, work and visit. With more than 40 brands, 14,000+ employees globally and products sold in 130 countries, we specialize in security around the doorway and beyond.

Additionally, Allegion is proud to be recognized with the 2026 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award (GEWA) for the third consecutive year, earning distinction in both the employee engagement and strengths categories. This year, Allegion also received Gallup’s With Distinction honor — a designation reserved for a select group of organizations that go above and beyond in building exceptional workplace cultures.

Associate Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Allegion is seeking an Associate Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to support our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team in improving manufacturing processes, equipment, and capital projects across our North American facilities. In this role, you'll take on assigned projects with guidance from experienced AME engineers — supporting process improvements, equipment and automation upgrades, and new product introductions — while building your knowledge of Allegion's processes, products, and customers. Opportunities for personal development exist in electro-mechanical products, fabrication/machining (e.g., sheet metal, welding, machining), and electroplating/surface finishing operations (e.g., chrome, paint, powder coating), as well as many other areas of expertise. Through partnering with subject matter experts, growth is a focus area for this role. We're looking for a curious, well-rounded engineer who is eager to learn and make a difference.

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

At Allegion, we are driven by a bold vision: redefining safety while empowering our employees to thrive. When you join our team, you become part of a culture that values innovation, purpose, and excellence. This role offers the benefits of our dynamic hybrid work model—combining in-person collaboration for meaningful moments with the flexibility of remote work. Since hybrid arrangements can vary based on the needs of the individual, team and business, your talent acquisition partner will provide specific hybrid details about this role.

We are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance and building meaningful connections, ensuring you have the tools, resources, and support needed to excel in any environment. Together, we’ll unlock your potential and create a lasting impact.

While this is the current structure and we currently have no plans to change, we reserve the right to make changes to the hybrid schedule as needed at the Company's discretion.

Hybrid Role Details: This role is based at our Carmel, IN facility. Time will be split between office, onsite manufacturing floor, and remote work as business and project needs require.

What You Will Do:
  • Support manufacturing process improvement initiatives on assigned production lines, applying structured problem-solving methods (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis) to improve safety, quality, and throughput
  • Collect and analyze production data (e.g., cycle time, scrap, OEE) to baseline performance and measure the impact of improvements
  • Assist in developing and implementing fabrication and assembly processes with automation, controls, and digitization improvements (e.g., PLC-controlled equipment, MES/data collection tools), in partnership with automation and controls specialists
  • Support capital projects — from scoping through installation, qualification, and ramp-up — for equipment, tooling, and process upgrades, escalating risks or resource needs as appropriate
  • Contribute to new product introduction (NPI) efforts by participating in design-for-manufacturability (DFM) reviews and providing manufacturability feedback to product design teams
  • Research and benchmark manufacturing technologies and processes, sharing findings and recommendations with the AME team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Operations, Quality, Procurement, Product Engineering) to resolve manufacturing issues and support facility-level initiatives
  • Document processes, standard work, layouts, and project outcomes to support knowledge sharing across the AME team
  • 10-15% travel may be required
What You Need to Succeed
  • Ability to execute assigned work and deliver to milestones, seeking guidance when needed
  • Foundational knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or root cause problem-solving methods, with the ability to apply them to standard problems
  • Data analysis skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools (AutoCAD, Creo, or SolidWorks) for layout, tooling, or design support
  • Awareness of manufacturing safety practices and OSHA requirements
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and best practices
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (or related technical field)
  • 3-5 years of relevant manufacturing/process engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems and/or fabrication/machining processes (e.g., sheet metal, welding, machining) — or strong aptitude and interest in developing this expertise
  • Experience with electroplating and surface finishing operations (e.g., chrome, paint, powder coating) — or strong aptitude and interest in developing this expertise
  • Exposure to industrial automation/controls (PLC, robotics, cobots)
  • Exposure to MES/shop-floor digitization tools
  • Exposure to NPI efforts or Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews
  • Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and OEE/throughput analytics
  • Familiarity with SPC, FMEA, GD&T, or measurement system analysis (MSA/Cpk)
  • Python or SQL skills for working with production data
  • Familiarity with simulation or digital twin tools
