As an Associate Actuarial Director at UnitedHealth Group, you will lead complex actuarial projects with strategic importance, contributing to our mission of helping people lead healthier lives and improving the health system for everyone. You’ll have the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S., tackling challenging projects that make a real difference.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Understand and interpret key drivers of Surest health care trends.
  2. Assist in developing analytics that form the foundation for actuarial medical cost reporting.
  3. Design and execute complex data programs for mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling.
  4. Serve as a consultant to the Surest management team to educate on trend and cost drivers.
  5. Partner with the Surest affordability lead to achieve TCOC objectives.
  6. Assist finance in measuring and validating affordability initiatives.
  7. Improve and develop advanced analytic techniques and predictive models.

These challenges are significant, and you'll be part of a driven team accountable for improving business results. You'll be recognized as a trusted subject matter expert, incorporating traditional actuarial expertise into innovative solutions.

Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  2. 5+ years of actuarial experience.
  3. Proficiency with SAS, SQL, and/or R at an intermediate level or higher.
  4. Advanced or higher proficiency in Excel, especially in model development.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. ASA or FSA designation.
  2. Experience in finance or health care industry.
  3. Experience with predictive analytics.
  4. Interest and experience in developing original quantitative work.
  5. Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  6. Expert proficiency with SAS, SQL, and R.
  7. Remote work adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $194,200 annually, based on full-time employment, with benefits including comprehensive packages, incentives, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions. Compensation is influenced by factors such as location, education, experience, and certifications.
