Assistant Director & Actuarial Associate - General Liability

Overview

Join The Hartford's Middle & Large Business team, focusing on General Liability, Life Sciences, and Media, Arts, & Entertainment. This role involves providing actuarial guidance, supporting the Media, Arts & Entertainment segment, and collaborating with Underwriting, Product, Finance, and IT departments. Candidates pursuing exams and those not pursuing exams are both welcome.

Responsibilities
  • Lead analysis, implementation, and communication of core actuarial work, including loss ratio planning and rate filings.
  • Build analytics to identify and address business issues; communicate findings effectively for operational decision-making.
  • Provide actuarial opinions on profitability, rate, and price guidance.
  • Support and improve rating and pricing methodologies.
  • Foster collaboration between Actuarial and business functions.
Experience & Skills
  • At least 3 years of actuarial experience supporting a business.
  • Near or recent ACAS/FCAS, ASA/FSA, or equivalent experience without exams.
  • Strong Excel skills; knowledge of predictive modeling is a plus.
  • Experience in P&C commercial lines preferred.
  • Innovative, collaborative, and independent problem solver.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain actuarial concepts to non-experts.
  • Proactive, influential, and deadline-driven.
Work Arrangement

This role offers hybrid or remote options. Office-based employees are expected to work on-site 3 days a week near designated locations; remote employees should be prepared to visit offices as needed.

Compensation

The annual base pay ranges from $108,800 to $163,200, influenced by experience and performance. Total compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and recognition.
