Actuarial Job Description: The Associate Actuarial Analyst, Reserving performs and supports Property & Casualty reserve analyses across multiple lines of business. Working under the guidance of experienced actuaries, this role assists in evaluating loss and loss adjustment expense reserves, performing actuarial analyses, maintaining reserving models, and supporting financial reporting activities. The position provides opportunities to develop technical actuarial skills, business knowledge, and professional expertise while contributing to sound reserving practices and informed business decisions.
Employees who live within 30 miles of the TMG home office are expected to follow a hybrid or in-office schedule. The initial training period may require additional in-office days.
Perform and contribute to quarterly Loss and LAE reserve analyses across assigned Property & Casualty lines of business. Assist in preparing reserve analyses and indications using established actuarial methods under actuarial supervision. Support the development of reserve analyses and documentation in accordance with actuarial standards and company practices. Maintain reserving models, methodologies, and supporting documentation. Extract, reconcile, validate, and analyze data used in reserving analyses. Contribute to the development and enhancement of reserving controls, governance processes, and documentation standards. Assist with diagnostic testing, trend analysis, and assumption reviews supporting reserve adequacy assessments. Communicate analytical findings and recommendations clearly through reports, exhibits, and presentations. Partner with Finance to support financial close processes, reserve change analyses, audits, and regulatory reporting. Support external actuarial reviews, audits, and regulatory examinations as needed.
Develop actuarial analyses and insights related to reserve performance, loss trends, and emerging risks. Analyze development patterns, claim trends, and sources of reserve volatility. Collaborate with Claims and Underwriting to understand operational and portfolio drivers impacting reserve results. Assist with scenario testing, reserve uncertainty assessments, and forecasting exercises. Monitor emerging issues and communicate potential impacts on reserve adequacy and business performance. Contribute to enhancements in actuarial models, data processes, and analytical tools.
Contribute to actuarial team effectiveness through strong technical execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with actuarial peers to review and validate work products for accuracy and consistency where appropriate. Partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders across Finance, Claims, Underwriting, and Analytics. Support departmental initiatives focused on process improvement, efficiency, and governance. Participate in the company’s actuarial exam program, including paid study time and exam support. Participate in the company’s actuarial rotation program to gain exposure across actuarial and analytical disciplines.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000 - $102,000 annual base salary depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
