Jobbeschreibung

Full or Part-time Architectural Associate / Designer

About the Firm

Our firm is focused primarily on residential architecture and project management. We also work on small and mid-sized commercial projects that align with our firm values. We are looking for a person with strong computer drafting and modeling skills to help us with documentation, design, and project management, who will help us grow and improve our work. Our firm practices open book management, with financial and performance transparency across the team. We work in a hybrid environment - with time spent in our offices, working from home, and traveling to job sites to meet with clients and contractors and to document existing structures. Most of our projects are located in Vermont and Massachusetts but we do take on projects in other states as well. At this time we are only considering candidates based in the State of Vermont.

The Ideal Candidate
  • Has particular interest working on residential design projects of varying scales.
  • Is excited to work for a small firm that values open communication, self evaluation, and constant improvement of personal performance and team workflows. Responsibilities will increase quickly as you learn our systems and develop your skills.
  • Is consistently detail-oriented and meticulous, in the habit of double checking work to minimize mistakes.
  • Has the ability to set up focused, distraction-free work blocks to produce high quality work efficiently. The position requires working independently for a significant number of hours each week, and regularly scheduled deliverables.
  • Has a strong working knowledge of 3D modeling and design documentation. We use Trimble Sketch Up and Layout to design and document our projects, so experience with this software is helpful, but we are happy to train an otherwise qualified candidate who is fluent with other CAD drafting systems.
  • The most critical quality in a candidate is a willingness and ability to learn and improve.
  • Extra consideration will be given to candidates with experience in construction and/or in the trades.
  • At this time we will only consider candidates located in the State of Vermont.
Responsibilities
  • Model existing structures and spaces in Trimble Sketchup.
  • Develop existing conditions drawing, and assist in developing design drawings in Trimble Layout.
  • Make site visits to take measurements and photographs.
  • Develop designs and drawings for renovation, addition, and new construction projects.
  • Eventually, work independently with clients and manage design projects.
  • Eventually, network and develop professional relationships to generate new business
  • Accurately and consistently track time to allow for project billing and cost tracking.
Work Schedule & Logistics

The typical week will be structured to include a number of regular virtual and/or in person team meetings to review ongoing work, and discuss any questions or issues. Some scheduled work activities outside of the set meeting times, such as construction site visits, but you will manage your workload independently.

Compensation
  • Hourly wage $30/hr to $40/hr, based on experience and skills
  • Paid time off
  • Retirement Plan
  • Stipends for computer and transportation
  • Profit sharing, after six months
