Job summary

• Experience with case management tools or litigation support software is beneficial
• Prior law firm or clerkship experience in litigation is preferred but not required, with a commitment to ongoing professional development

Role Description

The Associate will be responsible for managing a caseload in workers’ compensation and employment law matters, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and preparing discovery responses. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing claims files, evaluating case exposure, and advising clients on case strategy, settlement options, and risk mitigation. The role involves appearing at hearings, depositions, and conferences, as well as communicating regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals to ensure coordinated case management. This is a full-time hybrid role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, with a blend of in-office work and some work-from-home flexibility. The Associate will work closely with partners and colleagues to maintain high professional standards and support the firm’s commitment to timely, effective results.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice law in California, with a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Experience or strong interest in workers’ compensation and/or employment law litigation, including case evaluation and courtroom advocacy.
• Proficiency in legal research, drafting motions, pleadings, and correspondence, and analyzing complex legal and factual issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, including managing multiple deadlines and a high-volume caseload.
• Collaborative mindset and professional demeanor, with the ability to work effectively with partners, clients, claims professionals, and support staff.
• Comfort with technology and case management tools; experience with litigation support software or document management systems is beneficial.
• Prior law firm or clerkship experience in litigation is preferred but not required; a commitment to ongoing professional development is expected.
