Job summary

The Walt Disney Company is seeking an Associate Product Design Manager for Softlines Men’s & Boy’s Apparel in Glendale, CA or Orlando, FL. The role focuses on consumer-centric product lines across licensing, flex, vertical and wholesale channels.

You will lead concept, design, and prototype work, develop line sheets, and collaborate with internal teams (Creative Design, Brand Merchandising, Sourcing, Legal, Public Affairs, D&I) and external partners to approve products.

Qualifications

• 2-3+ years of related experience.
• Solid knowledge in softlines categories (textiles, print, pattern).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Solid negotiating skills.
• Strong product design skills including technical design and art manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Concept, design, sketch, prototype (fit sessions, production art), deliver and present trend-right consumer-centric product lines.
• Develop and design product mock-ups, compile line sheets for line reviews, layout creative presentations, and retail pitch decks.
• Collaborate with internal partners (Creative Design, Brand Merchandising, Sourcing and Tech Design, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, D&I teams) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, WDI, DTR Partners) to design and approve all products.
• Monitor competitors, product innovation and market dynamics.
• Research initial seasonal trends by category.
• Multi-task and prioritize multiple design projects within deadline.

Job Summary:

For this role, we are seeking an Associate Product Designer with an apparel/graphic design background.

Responsible for a specific range of products of a single category under general supervision from management / leadership. Builds strong peer / team relationships to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend-right product lines across all channels of distribution (licensing, flex business models, vertical and wholesale) that build brand equity and meet financial targets. This role will report directly to the Manager, Product Design and sit onsite in Glendale, CA or Orlando, FL.

• Concept, design, sketch, prototype (fit sessions, production art), deliver and present trend-right consumer centric product lines that feature market-leading innovation and great price/value for each tier of the value pyramid

• Develop and design product mock-ups, compile line sheets for line reviews, layout creative presentations, and retail pitch decks

• Collaborate with internal partners (Creative Design, Brand Merchandising, Sourcing and Tech Design, BERGs, CBM, Legal, Business Affairs, Product Integrity, Integrated Retail, BPM, Public Affairs, D&I teams, Cultural Consultants) and external partners (Studios & Disney Channel Content Providers, Games, Publishing, WDI, DTR Partners) to design and approve all products

Required Qualifications:

• Solid knowledge in softlines categories (raw materials, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, manufacturing)

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Solid negotiating skills

• Strong product design skills (e.g. technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, fabric and trim identification)

• Strong computer software skills (e.g. MS Office, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graphic Design, Textile Design, Typography

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field (e.g. fashion design, graphic design, textile design) or equivalent work experience (apparel or graphic preferred)

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $95,500.00-$128,000.00 per year and in Orlando, FL is $91,000 to $121,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
