Job summary

Amgen seeks a Scientific Associate Director, Human Disease Biology, Inflammation Research, to drive discovery in respiratory, dermatologic, and rheumatologic diseases. You will integrate human genetics, multi-omics, and AI-enabled analyses to uncover disease mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities.

As a scientific leader, you will mentor teams, oversee collaborations, and shape strategies spanning target discovery, biomarker development, and patient stratification.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent required.
• MD or PharmD with relevant experience (post-doc where applicable).
• Masters with 7+ years or Bachelors with 9+ years of relevant scientific experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a disease-focused discovery strategy leveraging multi-omic and human data to deepen mechanistic understanding of respiratory, dermatologic, or rheumatologic diseases.
• Lead cross-functional scientific initiatives that integrate human genetics, single-cell biology, spatial biology, proteomics, and computational analyses to identify and validate therapeutic targets, biomarker strategies, and patient subgroups.
• Mentor scientists and foster rigorous, collaborative practices across project teams.
• Drive generation and interpretation of multimodal datasets and translate findings into actionable hypotheses for target discovery.
• Design and oversee collaborations with academic investigators, clinical researchers, and external partners.
