Job summary

Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES seeks an Assistive Technology Teacher to support students with disabilities by integrating assistive technology devices, materials, and strategies for students, educational teams, and families.

The role involves direct and indirect support, collaboration with the special education team, and adapting materials to maximize curriculum access within the classroom environment. Travel may be required according to district needs.

Salary: $50,678-$71,564, commensurate with experience relevant to the position

Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00A-2:45P

Location: To Be Determined, Some travel may be required

The Assistive Technology Teacherprovides support for students with disabilities by providing direct and indirect support services in the integration and use of assistive technology devices, materials, and strategies to students, educational teams, and families.

  • Plan appropriate activities for students assigned to caseload:
  • Create materials and methods, and implement appropriate communicationsystems for those students requiring that type of intervention;
  • Orient students to the activities that are planned and provide for acomprehensive scope and sequence of activities;
  • Participate as a meaningful member of the special education team inrelation to the student's total program;
  • Integrate communication strategies and adapt instructional materials for student access to curriculum within the classroom environment to the maximum extent possible;
  • Evaluate and report on student progress at designated intervals accordingto established procedures;
  • Be familiar with and cooperate with school policies and regulations;
  • Supervise the use and care of materials and equipment;
  • Cooperate as fully as possible with professional and non-professional staff members of this organization and other school districts in conjunctive activities;
  • And other such duties as assigned.

  • Experience with school-based speech therapy, or special education teaching experience working with kindergarten through age 21 students with disabilities; 3. Knowledge of students with autism preferred
