Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education (Special Education Endorsement Preferred); prior instructional/assistive technology experience.
• Valid Texas teacher certificate in Special Education or related field.
• Three years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Knowledge of assistive technology devices and implementation strategies.
• Knowledge of augmentative communication devices such as programming and implementation.
• Support strategies and knowledge of accommodation and modifications for students with special needs to access the general curriculum.
• Knowledgeable with the ARD process.
• Demonstrate organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to achieve position goals.

Responsibilities

• Monitor supplementary aids and services for students using assistive technology.
• Collaborate with instructional staff to integrate AT supports in the general curriculum.
• Identify AT integration competencies among staff and provide coaching and training.
• Plan and implement direct training for service providers and parents.
• Monitor documentation of AT services and equipment.
• Manage AT caseload and case management duties.
• Participate in professional development to maintain AT knowledge.
• Coordinate with school/tech staff for reporting equipment repairs and deployment of new devices.
• Assign caseloads to optimize personnel and resources.
• Plan and manage the AT budget, inventory, and equipment.
• Train staff on documentation and AT processes.
• Develop collaborative programs to meet student needs including ARD meetings and parent conferences.
