Job summary

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: CERTIFIED MEDICATION ASSISTANT (CMA)

FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT/FULL-TIME

SHIFT: Weekends/Baylor Plan (6a-10p)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Certified Medication Assistant (CMA) is responsible for residents as directed by a care plan or agreement. This position has the responsibility of providing residents with their medications according to physician orders.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Set- up medication for residents and provide medication, under the direction and monitoring of a licensed nurse, and according to physician orders. May order/reorder medications.
• Record and document all medication, treatment and care provided for residents.
• Take and record vital signs of residents.
• Prepare monthly summaries, may take off physician orders and prepares chart for new residents.
• Respond to resident calls and requests.
• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Give and receive report at shift change, counts narcotics at that time.
• May help residents prepare for and exercise, as appropriate.
• Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.

Requirements

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS:

The physical responsibilities of this position constantly require effective bending, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. This position often involve medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned or make observations of residents and environment; close visual acuity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, operating medical equipment, reading a computer screen, reading printed material, inspection of small defects, and using measurement devices. The functions of this position are conducted in a temperature-controlled environment and not substantially exposed to adverse environment conditions and may be routinely exposed to working hazards, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, cleaning chemicals, and odors.
