Job summary

WALT MOREY MIDDLE SCHOOL in Portland, Oregon is seeking an Assistant Wrestling Coach to support the head coach in organizing and running the wrestling program. You will assist with practices, motivate student athletes, and instruct them in techniques and game strategies.

Responsibilities include directing practices, evaluating student performance, coordinating equipment and uniforms, and participating in season activities. This is a part-time, on-site role within Reynolds SD 7.

Qualifications

• Some experience as an assistant wrestling coach at the high school or college level.
• Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Must possess knowledge of the sport's rules and strategies.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach with instructing students in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
• Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.
• Assess participant’s skills, monitor students during competition and practice, and keep the head coach informed of athletic performance.
• Assist with determining game strategy.
• Assist the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
• Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the Head Coach.
