Job summary

Bethalto Community Unit School District 8 is seeking a dedicated individual to join Trimpe Middle School as a full-time Assistant Wrestling Coach. The role focuses on developing student-athletes, teaching wrestling techniques, and fostering an inclusive team culture.

Responsibilities include planning practices, mentoring athletes academically, coordinating team logistics, and supporting recruitment and community outreach while ensuring compliance with district policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field preferred.
• Previous wrestling coaching experience at middle school/high school/collegiate level is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
• First Aid/CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing wrestling practices and competitions.
• Provide instruction on wrestling techniques, strategies, and conditioning to student-athletes.
• Foster a positive and supportive team culture that encourages sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth.
• Monitor student-athlete academic performance and provide guidance to ensure eligibility and success in school.
• Collaborate with the head coach to develop training plans and manage team logistics, including scheduling and travel arrangements.
• Assist in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes for the wrestling program.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school administration regarding team activities, progress, and concerns.
• Help organize and run wrestling camps, clinics, and community outreach programs.
• Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic policies and regulations.
• Attend staff meetings, coaching clinics, and professional development opportunities as required.

Education
