Job description

Instructs and coaches teams and individuals in the fundamentals of wrestling, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

1. Participates in recruiting, training, and coaching wrestling.
2. Assists with planning and scheduling a regular program of seasonally appropriate wrestling activities in accordance with district and organizational policies and NSAA regulations.
3. Instructs players on sport rules, strategies, and performance principles; coaches players to achieve high skill levels and an appreciation for sportsmanship values and discipline.
4. Evaluates athlete strengths and weaknesses; designs and develops training methodologies; prepares players for competition.
5. Plans and conducts practice sessions and physical conditioning programs to maximize performance and reduce injuries.
6. Provides training, direction, and motivation to prepare athletes for competitions and games.
7. Trains players on equipment use and monitors safety and proper usage.
8. Maintains complete and accurate records as required.
9. May utilize a Boys Town vehicle to transport students as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of wrestling coaching strategies with the ability to adapt techniques and methodologies.
• Knowledge of state policies, statutes, and procedures related to education and coaching, including Nebraska regulations.
• Effective instruction delivery skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous coaching experience preferred.
