Job summary

GovHRUSA in Rhode Island is seeking an Assistant Vice President of Legal for a fully on-site, full-time role. You will support daily legal operations, report to the SVP of Legal and HR, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.

The successful candidate will draft, review, and negotiate contracts, perform legal research, coordinate with outside counsel on litigation, and advise leadership on legal risks and governance.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Rhode Island.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience with contract review, drafting and negotiation.
• Strong knowledge of corporate and public sector law.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to simplify complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
• Provide legal research and prepare memoranda.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on litigation matters.
• Assist in administration of insurance claims.
• Advise leadership on legal risks and compliance.
