Job summary

Oakland University is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Constituent Philanthropy to lead academic and unit-based fundraising across University Advancement. You will manage Directors of Philanthropy and cultivate relationships with Deans and key university leaders, while also handling a portfolio of principal donors.

The role requires a track record in major gifts, strategic planning, and strong communication skills to translate academic priorities into donor opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• At least 6 years in development, sales, or marketing raising gifts of $1,000,000+ with 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of fundraising areas and campaign experience building relationships with university leadership.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate well with students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and friends.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for academic and unit-based fundraising across University Advancement.
• Lead and manage Directors of Philanthropy and strengthen partnerships with Deans and university colleagues.
• Maintain a select portfolio of top-tier prospects with emphasis on principal and major opportunities.
