Position Summary
The Assistant Volleyball Coach, Boys supports the Head Coach in all aspects of the Volleyball program, including athlete development, training implementation, team operations, tournament preparation, administrative responsibilities, and fostering a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented environment. This role helps ensure the program aligns with IMG Academy standards, athlete well-being, academic success, and competitive excellence while delivering a world-class student-athlete experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assistwith planning, organizing, and conducting high-quality volleyball practices, development plans, and training sessions.
- Support the development of athletes' technical, tactical, physical, and mental performance skills.
- Provide instruction in all aspects of volleyball including serving, passing, setting, attacking, blocking, defensive systems, transition play, and game strategy.
- Maintain open, two-way communication with student-athletes and parents/guardiansregardingprogress, goals, and development plans, as well as the student-athlete's overall growth in sport, academics, and campus life.
- Guide student-athletes through tournament preparation, including scheduling, match readiness, scouting reports, post-match review, and performance benchmarks.
- Assistwith match-day operations including warm-up management, bench support, statistical review, and competitive strategy implementation.
- Develop andmaintaina comprehensive understanding of volleyball-specific equipment, technology, and methodologies used throughout the Academy.
- Utilize video analysis, performance data, and technology platforms to support athlete development and team performanceobjectives.
- Serve as a mentor and educator, fostering positive habits, leadership skills, accountability, and sport-specific learning for each student-athlete.
- Continuously evaluate the athletic, academic, and emotional development of each student-athlete and collaborate with leadership to ensureappropriate internaland external resources are engaged.
- Assistwith the college placement process by supporting recruiting efforts, creating athlete evaluations, and communicating with college coaches asappropriate.
- Collaborate with Volleyball leadership to regularly review and enhance program structure, content, delivery methods,objectives, and resources, providing recommendations to improve program quality and support business growth.
- Support recruiting and retention initiatives for current and prospectivestudent-athletes.
- Assistin the planning and delivery of camps, clinics,showcases, andspecial events.
- Travel to tournaments,showcases, and team events asrequired.
- Assistwith inventory management, equipment organization, and facility setup and breakdown.
- Support compliance with IMG Academy, NFHS, NCAA, USAV, and other applicable governing body policies and procedures.
- Build positive relationships with student-athletes, families, staff, and campus partners to promote a high-performance and supportive environment.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety standards, and codes of conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High standard ofproficiencyin training andcoachingtechniques
- Experience playing,coachingor managing at a collegiate,clubor professional level
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports management, businessadministrationor a similar sports orbusiness relatedfield or the equivalent
- Strong commitment to student athletes
Preferred Skills
- Experience coaching elite junior, collegiate, or professional volleyball athletes.
- Knowledge of video analysis and performance technology platforms such asHudl,BallTime,DataVolley, or similar systems.
- Experienceworkingcamps, clinics,showcases, and recruiting events.
- Bilingual.
- CPR Certification.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to drive for tournaments, matches, and team travel.
- Experience supporting college recruiting andathleteplacement processes.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to lift, move,pushand pull equipment or boxesin excess of40lbs.
- Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonableperiod of time.
- Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
- Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays isrequired
