Position: Assistant Vice President, Director of Construction Professional Risk Management

We are seeking an experienced construction industry professional motivated to promote Berkley Alliance Manager’s risk and practice management consultation, education resources, presentation offerings, and engagement with policyholders, brokers, industry associations, and subject matter experts. The focus is on construction professional and design-construction risks, including emerging forms such as design-build, IPD, and P3. The goal is to enhance BCP’s value-added risk management products, reputation, and the risk profile of insureds.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Develop and implement strategies for risk management and loss prevention assets, education, and delivery methods for BCP insureds.
  2. Communicate effectively with brokers and coordinate with them regarding relationships with insureds.
  3. Collaborate with Berkley Design Professional through BAM Risk Management.
  4. Engage with construction industry associations and professional organizations.
  5. Provide guidance, advice, and training on risk assessment, mitigation, engineering, and contracting strategies.
  6. Draft white papers, presentations, and conduct webinars and workshops.
  7. Participate in seminars, conferences, and public presentations to promote BCP’s reputation.
  8. Work with BAM Claims Department to identify claims trends in construction and design industry.
  9. Stay informed on design/construction project delivery methods and industry trends.
  10. Research and develop approaches to educate clients on emerging risks.
  11. Contribute enthusiastically to the growth and success of Berkley Construction Professional and Berkley Alliance Managers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering (preferred)
  • Master’s degree in architecture, engineering, or Juris Doctor (preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years as a practicing design professional (PE preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years as a risk manager in a design firm or as a licensed design/construction attorney

  • Base Salary Range: $137,000 – $195,000
  • Eligible for annual discretionary bonus
