Job Summary:

TheAssistant Vice Chancellor for Development, Athletic Giving / Associate Athletics Director leads a high-performance team to secure philanthropic investment for TCU’s Athletics programs—through effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of donor-specific strategies. This position manages staff that execute major giving, annual giving, stewardship, alumni relations, and marketing programs related to fundraising for TCU Athletics. The Assistant Vice Chancellor leads by example, managing a personal portfolio of high-level prospective donors and setting the highest possible standard for professional and personal conduct. This position provides strategic direction to donors and prospective donors as they make significant philanthropic investment decisions. This position also ensures compliance with all TCU and NCAA policies, rules, and procedures relative to fundraising and overseeing TCU’s athletic giving program. The Assistant Vice Chancellor serves as a key member of the Development Management Team and actively participates in strategic planning, budget development, and goal-setting at a leadership level.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Manages athletic giving by ensuring that athletic fundraising processes, procedures, systems, and strategies are well-designed and executed through the Frog Club, Block T Association, and volunteers.
2. Designs and implements fundraising strategies to secure major gifts ($100K+) in support of TCU Athletics.
3. Demonstrates a strong understanding of NCAA rules and regulations, including Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) legislation.
4. Works collaboratively and proactively with all University Advancement colleagues as well as other internal partners in the Athletics Department and others across campus.
5. Recruits, trains, mentors and retains a highly effective Athletic Giving team that supports division-wide and university efforts.
6. Fosters an environment of collaboration, cooperation and excellence, including establishing equitable and consistent metrics for team accountability.
7. Regularly evaluates comprehensive performance of team, identifies opportunities for improvement, measures outcomes and reports recommendations.
8. Oversees Frog Club staff game day operations.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a Division I athletics program or university development office.
• Proven track record of effective major gift cultivation and solicitation.
• Proven track record of building and managing a successful team.

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Master’s degree in business, marketing, communication or related field of study.
• Experience in higher education development.
• Previous experience in utilizing complex centralized CRM system to meet fundraising goals.
• Experience in Division I athletics/higher education major gift fundraising.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

• Valid Texas driver’s license
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:

• Constituent Relationship Management system – Blackbaud CRM experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques.
• Knowledge of communications, presentation and interpersonal relationship techniques.
• Knowledge of digital technologies and emerging platforms, including social media, ecommerce and other potential digital philanthropy tools
• Skill in problem solving, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.
• Skill in developing a collaborative and inspiring team approach that is supported by data-centered rigor and a strong emphasis on accountability.
• Ability to work as a team-oriented strategist.
• Ability to achieve success within a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
• Ability to build productive, long-term relationships
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information.
• Ability to use technology (e.g. PC, iPhone, iPad, videoconferencing technology, Microsoft Office suite and customized CRM system) as needed to achieve goals.
• Ability to travel and attend evening and weekend programs and activities as required

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
• This is an on-campus and in-person role.
