Job summary

Grandview Heights Schools is seeking an Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach for the 2026-2027 school year at Grandview Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio.

The role reports to the Athletic Director and requires coaching experience in wrestling, adherence to Board of Education and OHSAA requirements (including a pupil activity permit and CPR certification), with six days of coaching per week and 15–20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• Experience in the designated sport.
• Must meet coaching requirements including pupil activity permit and CPR certification.
• Prior coaching experience preferred.
• Van certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct the boys’ high school wrestling team (15–20 student-athletes).
• Assist the Head Wrestling Coach with coaching, communication, and administrative duties as assigned.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure the safety of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.
• Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests. 15-20 hours per week is a typical time commitment for the coach.
• Supervise and travel with the team to all contests.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Job Functions:

• Supervise and instruct the boys’ high schoolwrestling team consisting of approximately 15-20 student-athletes.
• Assist the HeadWrestling Coach with coaching, communication, and administrative duties as assigned.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure the safety of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.

Working Conditions

• Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue
• Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather

• Regular requirement to lift equipment, up to 50 pounds
