Job summary

Grandview Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a JV Softball Coach for a supplemental position reporting to the Athletic Director. Responsibilities include supervising a 15–20 player softball program, conducting practices, and assisting the Head Coach with coaching, communication, and administrative duties.

Mandatory qualifications include sport-specific experience, pupil activity permit and CPR certification as required by the Board of Education and OHSAA.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching the specified sport as required by the Board of Education and OHSAA, including pupil activity permit and CPR certification.
• Must meet all coaching requirements specified by the Board of Education and OHSAA.
• Prior coaching experience is preferred.
• Van certification is preferred for this role.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and instruct the high school softball team of 15–20 student-athletes.
• Assist the Head Softball Coach with coaching, communication and admin duties.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure the safety of all student-athletes during practices and contests.
• Develop practice and training plans for varying ability levels.
• Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests; 15–20 hours per week typical.
• Supervise and travel with the team to all contests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Prior coaching experience preferred

Essential Job Functions:

• Supervise and instruct the high school softball team consisting of approximately 15-20 student-athletes.
• Assist the Head Softball Coach with coaching, communication, and administrative duties as assigned.
• Conduct regular practices for the team.
• Coach student-athletes in a positive manner.
• Ensure the safety of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• Develop practice and training plans for athletes with differing ability levels.
• Coaching will require six days per week including practices and contests. 15-20 hours per week is a typical time commitment for the coach.
• Supervise and travel with the team to all contests.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Working Conditions

• Potential exposure to blood or other bodily fluids and tissue
• Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather
• Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see and read
• Regular requirement to lift equipment, up to 50 pounds
