Job summary

AEGIS Insurance Services, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Underwriter, Casualty Underwriting, to provide technical support to assigned underwriters. You will process submissions, assist with quotes, and help ensure timely and accurate policy delivery to Members-Policyholders and brokers.

The role emphasizes data integrity, QA, and coordination with brokers. Candidates should have at least 1 year in insurance, an undergraduate degree or equivalent, and familiarity with underwriting processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of business experience in an insurance setting
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience; business-related degree a plus
• Professional insurance designation a plus
• Working knowledge of insurance terms, concepts, products, and coverages
• Working knowledge of underwriting rating systems
• Understanding of rating, quoting, binding, and issuing an insurance policy

Responsibilities

• Data Management and Reporting: monitor workload via status reports; ensure submissions have complete Member-Policyholder and Broker data; enter submission info into Underwriting System for quotes.
• Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement: maintain underwriting performance standards; provide admin support to Underwriters; proofread documents; process policies; identify deficiencies and suggest solutions; assist underwriters in resolving issues with brokers and Members-Policyholders; maintain technical knowledge of lines of business.
• Communication and Documentation: daily communication with underwriters about priorities; prepare quote letters, binders and invoices; document PCRs and follow up on renewals; ensure timely premium collections and monitor collection reports; follow up on uncollected premiums.
• Collaboration and Team Support: work with underwriting team and other divisions; coordinate with brokers and Members-Policyholders; maintain relationships; assist in special projects
