Job Description:
This is professional engineering work of a technical nature performing complex functions in the Office of Safety. The role involves Highway Safety Engineering, Highway Design, and Traffic Engineering. The incumbent will assist the Safety Engineer in analyzing safety data, identifying crash trends, and evaluating safety improvement alternatives through the State's Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The position requires collaboration with various units within the Department, including the Bureau of Planning, Project Development, and Maintenance and Operations, to incorporate safety initiatives into projects. Work is performed under limited supervision. Preferred experience includes Traffic Engineering, the FHWA's Highway Safety Manual, large databases, geographic information systems, and proficiency with MS Office.
Minimum Qualifications:
Either a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related field, or non-engineering candidates with a Certification of Engineer-Intern issued by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
