Job summary

Jefferson High School Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Coach to help coordinate interscholastic athletics and develop student-athletes both on and off the field. You will support practices, manage playing time decisions with the Head Coach, and engage with the school and community to promote the program.

The ideal candidate has coaching and teaching experience, a BA/BS in Education, and current first aid or concussion training.

Qualifications

• Coaching credentials and ability to teach effectively in a high school setting.
• First Aid certification or Sports First Aid knowledge is required/renewed periodically.
• Concussion in Sports training must be kept current annually (or per district policy).

Responsibilities

• Assists in the direction and coordination of interscholastic athletics in the school.
• Works with Head Coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games, including playing time at respective levels.
• Positively promotes the athletic program within the school and community.
• Operates within conference and SDHSAA policies.
• Maintains a staff relationship with other coaches.
• Assists with fundraising activities as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Coaching and teaching experience desired.

Physical Requirements

Hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit. The ability to travel between locations.

Other Requirements

Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent (must be completed one time); Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent (must be renewed once every two years); Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know (must be renewed on an annual basis. High school/college participation preferred. Teaching assignment in building preferred.

Season Pay - $4,916.00
