Job summary

The Goddard School of Edina, MN is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs, managing the classroom, and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment for children.

You will bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity to a collaborative team, help with lesson plans and daily care, and communicate with families about children’s progress. This role offers a supportive, growth-oriented work culture within our state-of-the-art facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred but not required
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting required
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
