Job summary

The Growing Years in Charlotte is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support Toddlers, helping children explore and learn in a warm, family‑oriented setting.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or ECE credentials, or 6 ECE credits, and must pass all background checks. The role runs Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm, with competitive pay and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the center's philosophy and goals.
• Implement activities that support growth in emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive feedback, and make improvements as needed for program quality.
• Create and maintain a clean and safe environment for all children.
• Establish a professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Demonstrate physical ability to work around small children and lift up to 40 lbs.

The Growing Years - Discovery in Charlotte is a licensed childcare center seeking Assistant Teachers to support the following age groups:

• Toddlers

To be QUALIFIED for this position, we require a high school diploma, completion of early childhood education credentials or 6 credits worth of early childhood education courses or their equivalent, and the ability to pass all background checks. plus if you have previous childcare experience!

Required Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Compensation: $16-18/hr, based on education and experience

Our Hiring Process for Assistant Teachers:

Main Job Responsibilities for Assistant Teachers:

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.
• Implement activities that encourage each child’s growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.
• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.
• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.
• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.
• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
