Job summary

International Erosion Control Association is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in San Francisco to support project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. You will work with senior PMs and superintendents on complex commercial builds across the Bay Area.

The role requires 2–5 years GC experience, a CM or Civil Eng degree, and strong Procore/Construction Cloud skills. This on-site position emphasizes coordination, documentation, and cost monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years' experience with a General Contractor in an APM/Project Engineer role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes and project delivery.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Assist with scheduling, procurement and subcontractor coordination.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation.
  • Monitor costs and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare minutes and action logs.
  • Assist with contract administration and compliance.
  • Support quality control and health & safety initiatives on site.
  • Contribute to project closeout including punch lists and final documentation.

My client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join the growing team in San Francisco. Working alongside experienced Project Managers and Superintendents, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating and delivering construction projects on time and within budget.
  • Assist with project scheduling, procurement and subcontractor coordination.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation.
  • Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action logs.
  • Assist with contract administration and compliance requirements.
  • Support quality control and health & safety initiatives on site.
  • Contribute to project closeout, including punch lists, warranties and final documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 2–5 years' experience working for a General Contractor in an Assistant Project Manager, Project Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and project delivery.
  • Experience managing project documentation, RFIs, submittals and change orders.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working on a construction project with a contract value exceeding $100 million is highly preferred.
  • Exposure to large-scale commercial, mixed-use, healthcare, life sciences or institutional projects.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction principles and collaborative project delivery methods.
