The National Collegiate Athletic Association is seeking an Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach for their NCAA Division I men's tennis program. Responsibilities include coaching, designing practices, recruiting, coordinating team travel, and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have significant collegiate-level coaching experience, knowledge of NCAA regulations, and strong communication and organizational skills.
The Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach assists the Head Coach in the coaching and management of a NCAA Division I men’s tennis program competing in the Atlantic 10 conference. This includes, but is not limited to planning team practices, coaching and teaching tennis skills to individuals and groups, overseeing and planning strength training and conditioning activities, conducting individual workouts, assisting with operations management, recruiting, and other duties as assigned. This position requires frequent travel, work in the evenings, on weekends and holidays, and a valid U.S. driving license.
Job Duties: Provide on and off court instruction to players in men's tennis program; design practices; prepare game plans for matches and discuss game strategy with players; use coaching techniques and strategies to improve athlete performance; evaluate individual performances and provide leadership and instruction in areas of deficiencies, as required.
Coordinate team video review and editing for players. Analyze and review video with players.
Administrative duties, including coordinating team travel to away competitions; working with various departments including Event Management, Marketing, Facilities and Sports Information; organizing special events including team banquets, senior recognition and community engagement events; managing work study students; assisting with recruiting activities including written communication, database maintenance, and campus visits; coordinating filming during competitions and training sessions; assisting with communication to alumni and team supporters; and coordinating special projects as directed by Head Coach.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. 3 years or more of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Demonstrated excellence in coaching college tennis. Knowledge of NCAA rules and intercollegiate athletics. Ability to communicate effectively with all team members and staff within Davidson Athletics. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer and technical skills including the use of video equipment and software. Excellent administrative and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize and complete tasks by established deadlines. Ability to represent the Davidson College Men’s tennis program in a professional, positive and energetic manner.
