Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Conshohocken, PA seeks an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer to support a variety of utility projects, including SCADA, distribution automation, cyber security, microwave radio, wireless networks, fiber optics, and smart grid initiatives.

You will assist with network design, BOMs, diagrams, equipment plans and channel layouts, work closely with the project team to ensure client satisfaction, and help meet QA/QC standards on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related field required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge to broad areas of assignments.
• EIT certification preferred.
• GPA 3.0 strongly preferred.
• Eligible to work legally in the United States for this position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project deliverables: BOMs, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, wiring diagrams, channel plans, etc.

• Assist in designing telecommunications networks utilizing client standards or developing new standards.
• Assist with project deliverables such as: bill of materials, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, sections and details, wiring diagrams, control building arrangements, DC calculations, cable lists, SCADA points lists, device configuration files, network architecture diagrams, channel plans, RF path studies, and cutover plans.
• Assist in execution of complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.

• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
