Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Morristown, NJ is seeking an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer to support a range of complex utility projects including SCADA, distribution automation, cyber security, microwave radio, wireless networks, fiber optics, and smart grid initiatives.

You will assist in network design, prepare deliverables such as bill of materials, specifications, yard layouts, wiring diagrams, channel plans and RF studies, and help resolve issues while ensuring projects meet QA/QC guidelines

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related field from a recognized accredited program. ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Apply intensive and diversified knowledge to broad areas of assignments.
• Capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing telecommunications networks utilizing client standards or developing new standards.
• Assist with project deliverables such as: bill of materials, specifications, yard layouts, equipment plans, sections and details, wiring diagrams, control building arrangements, DC calculations, cable lists, SCADA points lists, device configuration files, network architecture diagrams, channel plans, RF path studies, and cutover plans.
• Assist in execution of complex assignments requiring the use of advanced tools and techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.
• Identify, communicate and assist in resolving issues on projects as needed.
• Adhere to established project schedule to meet deadlines.
• Work closely with the project team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following internal QA/QC guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation

$85,000.00-130,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
