Miami Theater Center (MTC) is seeking a hands-on Assistant Technical Director for a part-time role approximately 20 hours per week. The assistant will support the Technical Director in preparing and executing performances, rehearsals, rentals, and special events in a fast-paced arts venue.

The position requires familiarity with the ETC Ion lighting console and general lighting, sound, and stage operations. A collaborative, safety‑minded team player is essential for this community‑minded venue.

Qualifications

• Experience with live theater production.
• Ability to lift at least 25 pounds and work on ladders when necessary.
• Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends based on production schedule.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Technical Director with preparation and execution of performances, rehearsals, rentals, and events.
• Program, operate, and troubleshoot the ETC Ion lighting console.
• Hang, focus, patch, and maintain lighting equipment.
• Assist with basic sound, projections, and stage setup as needed.
• Support scenic load-ins, strikes, and general stage operations.
• Help maintain theater equipment, tools, and backstage spaces.
• Ensure safe working practices backstage and during technical operations.
• Provide technical support for educational programs and community events.
• Collaborate with visiting artists, rental clients, and volunteers.

Miami Theater Center (MTC) is seeking a reliable, hands‑onAssistant Technical Directorto support the Technical Director in the operation of our professional performing arts venue. This position is ideal for someone with technical theater experience who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment serving artists, students, and the community.
