Primary Responsibility

Under the general supervision of the Ski Team Head Coach, will assist the Head Coach of the Ski Team with all operational duties associated with the ski team. Assist Head Ski Coach with team practices, depending on assistant's individual expertise.

Please note, the position is scheduled to work from approximately October 1st to March 1st.

  • This is a part-time, seasonal position. As per the Affordable Care Act (ACA) guidelines, the role is not eligible for benefits typically provided to full-time employees. Employment duration and hours worked may vary based on seasonal business needs. The individual hired for this position will not hold any other role at CMC during the year and will only be employed in this seasonal role to meet ACA seasonal employment requirements.
Pre-requisites For Position (Qualifications Standards)

Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position. Examples may include an Associate Degree and one-year related work experience or consider a two year college certificate, and two years related work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with regional and national alpine competition, knowledge of NCAA/USSA/FIS rules and compliance, along with strong team building and communication skills preferred.

Knowledge of: outdoor athletic team sports management; snow skiing principles, modern ski racing tactics and techniques, practices and methods; ski and mountain equipment, safety and rescue systems procedures; team-building and facilitation; marketing and sales methods; budget administration P-Card reconciliation and logistics management. Ideal candidates will have experience with regional and national alpine competition, knowledge of NCAA/USSA/FIS rules and compliance, along with strong team building and communication skills.

Ability to: manage and coordinate multi-faceted activities; collaborate with diverse populations; excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; organize, prioritize, and work independently; qualify and maintain a Colorado driver’s license. The ski coach will be required to drive high occupancy vehicles for team transportation and events.

Colorado Mountain College requires that employees perform their assigned duties within the State of Colorado. The hiring pay rate is $ 30.11 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution, annual and sick time, mental health resources, and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidate’s skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed, this will be set commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Minimum Qualifications

Essential Duties

  • Assists Head Coach in all snow training sessions.
  • Assists in conducting daily conditioning sessions.

Supervision Received

The position reports to a designated supervisor. Position usually works within the framework of responsibilities but may require guidance at times.

Supervisory Responsibility

Position has no supervisory responsibility.

Special Conditions of Employment

Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned.

This position requires travel and evening/weekend hours in unusual circumstances, sometimes under difficult weather and environmental conditions; possession of or ability to possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license. The incumbent will be required to drive high occupancy vehicles (HOV) for team transportation and events.

An altered work schedule including evenings and weekends and travel within CMC service area may be required at times, based on position responsibilities.

Working Conditions

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
