Job summary

The Philosophy & Religion program at the School of Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi invites qualified applicants for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, Assistant Teaching Professor in Philosophy to begin Fall 2027.

The program has a new inter-disciplinary BA in Philosophy, Religion, and Law with three concentration pathways: Ethics, Philosophy of Law, and Religion and World Cultures.

Qualifications

• PhD in Philosophy by the time of appointment.
• Preferred: publication and teaching experience in both conventional and online formats; Canvas knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergrad courses in Environmental Ethics, Healthcare Ethics, and possibly Ethics and AI in both on-site and online formats.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Participate in program assessment.
• Fulfill service obligations appropriate to teaching-track faculty.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
