Bowling Green State University Libraries is a founding and active member of OhioLINK, a consortium of 117 libraries at 88 institutions plus the State Library of Ohio. The University Libraries (UL) comprises general collections (housed within the William T. Jerome Library) in social sciences, humanities, and sciences; government documents; the Curriculum Resource Center; and is home to three nationally prominent special collections: the Browne Popular Culture Library, the Center for Archival Collections, which includes the Historical Collections of the Great Lakes, and the Music Library and Bill Schurk Sound Archives. Additionally, the Northwest Ohio Regional Book Depository, which serves BGSU and the University of Toledo, is managed by the University Libraries.

Essential Functions

Essential Functions

  • Lead detailed analyses of library collections to inform strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Maintain an awareness of the trends and issues affecting acquisitions and collection development and collection management, with an emphasis on monographs and physical holdings.
  • Provide guidance to subject librarians on the selection of monographic content.
  • Co-lead a team of subject librarians in collection development planning in partnership with the Collections and Electronic Resources Librarian.
  • Regularly review collection development and approval plans to meet the resource needs of researchers and degree programs in partnership with subject librarians.
  • Spearhead collection management through leading regular assessment of the print, ebook, and serials collections.
  • Collaborate with the budget office on the implementation of the collections budget and the acquisition of library materials.
  • Analyze collection usage data, support assessment efforts, and contribute to accreditation and curricular reports.
  • Represent the library in campus curricular meetings and support alignment of library collections with curriculum proposals.
  • Conduct outreach to campus partners, demonstrating the value of library collections to the academic community.

Provide reference services, individual consultations, and workshops to support faculty and student research needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution to be conferred by position start date.
  • 6 months collection development experience in a library setting in a professional capacity.
  • Experience with, or knowledge of, current issues and trends in acquiring and assessing collections in an academic library.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience planning, organizing, and managing projects, both independently and within a team environment.
  • Experience with systems such as: GOBI, Alma Analytics, Curriculog, GreenGlass.

Evidence of involvement with equity, inclusion and belonging work in community, organizational, or employment settings.
