Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics (MEM) in the College of Engineering at Drexel University, in alignment with the University’s Areas of Excellence and Opportunity in support of its 2030 Strategic Plan, invites applications for full-time, non-tenure track (NTT) teaching positions with demonstrated expertise in sustainable aviation and aerospace. Ideal candidates will work with faculty to reinforce and enhance MEM's offerings in aerospace/aeronautics. The successful candidate will have a passion for teaching and active, student-centered learning, with a focus on undergraduate curriculum development, design, and lab instruction. Responsibilities also include mentoring students on senior design projects, engaging with industry partnerships, and advising student organizations.

Qualifications

• PhD in mechanical engineering or related field by September 1, 2025.
• Outstanding academic and/or industrial credentials.
• Proficiency in areas such as aerodynamics, propulsion, aircraft design, aerospace structures, flight mechanics, UAVs, and related fields.
• Experience in design and laboratory work.
• Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education excellence.

Essential Functions

• Contribute to undergraduate design and lab courses.
• Mentor students, develop industry partnerships, and advise student organizations.
• Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, including online and hybrid formats.
• Develop courses in topics like orbital mechanics, thermofluids, control systems, aerospace structures, CFD, and FEA.
• Develop laboratory courses and advise on senior projects.
• Participate in curriculum development.
• Teach load: 30 credits/year; service: 6 credits/year.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 1-2 years relevant experience.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, R, SQL, Java, C++, CAD tools like Creo, SolidWorks, Fusion360.
