Job summary

Little Scholars is seeking a Teacher Assistant in Brooklyn, NY to support lead teachers and deliver high-quality early childhood education. You will create engaging activities, supervise children, and maintain a safe classroom environment while following progressive curriculum and state guidelines.

The role offers a signing bonus of $250, competitive hourly pay of $20–$22, and benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Qualifications

• 6 months or more of professional childcare experience
• Ability to develop activities that are fun and educational for young children
• Ability to instruct young children on rules of conduct and learning new tasks
• Ability to effectively communicate with children and parents
• Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to the various needs of children and parents
• Patience and compassion are suitable for working with young children
• Meet state-specific guidelines for the role

Responsibilities

• Assisting the lead teacher in creating a welcoming, engaging classroom
• Assisting the lead teacher in the planning of weekly themes, lesson plans and carrying out daily activities- Supervising activities of children and provide stimulating activities
• Maintaining a safe, healthy environment for children at all times
• Actively engaging in daily activities and routines with children
• Maintaining all required certifications
• Ensuring compliance with all New York Department of Health rules and regulations
