Job summary

Grand Avenue Preschool's Before and After School Program in LaGrange Highlands is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support our School Age program. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and the ability to pass background checks, with previous childcare experience preferred.

• Assist the lead teacher with classroom duties in line with the center's goals.
• Implement activities promoting emotional, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.

• Create and maintain a clean, safe environment for all children.
• Establish professional rapport with families to provide quality care.
• Demonstrate physical ability to work around small children (sitting, standing, walking, running, stairs).
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs as needed.

Compensation

Main Job Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher with all aspects of the classroom in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center.


• Implement activities that encourage each child's growth in the areas of emotion, social, cognitive, creative, and physical development.


• Take direction, accept constructive criticism, and feedback, and make improvements and changes as necessary for the betterment of the quality of the program.


• Create and maintain an environment that is clean and safe for all children.


• Establishing a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care for the children.


• Physical ability to work around small children including sitting, standing, walking, running, and climbing stairs.


• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and fulfill all physical requirements of the role.
