Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support a safe, educational environment for children. You will supervise students, engage with them to foster development, and maintain accurate records. The role requires a HS diploma or GED, 2,500 hours of childcare experience, and CDA certification where applicable.

DHS compliance and routine duties are included. The YMCA emphasizes family-friendly benefits, ongoing training, and commitment to community through youth development

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required or preferred
• 30 credit hours in early childhood, elementary or related field education
• 15 college credit hours and one year related care experience
• Current CDA certificate preferred/required

Responsibilities

• Maintain supervision of all students
• Provide a safe, clean, risk-free environment
• Engage with children to promote development
• Maintain accident and attendance records
• Greet parents and children daily and address concerns
• Use positive guidance to support children
• Follow DHS procedures and assist others
• Care for the needs of children
• Ensure compliance with YMCA policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Education

High school diploma or GED
