Job summary

Mariposa Montessori School in Los Gatos, CA seeks an attentive Assistant Teacher to support the Toddler classroom for children 18 months to 3 years old. You will work closely with the lead teacher to foster independence, curiosity, and a warm, respectful classroom environment.

This full-time role features a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:15 am to 4:45 pm, with opportunities to contribute to hands-on Montessori activities, prepare materials, and document student progress while communicating with

• Experience working with young children in school, childcare, or educational setting.
• Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and methods is a plus.
• Early Childhood Education units or degree required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead Montessori teacher in delivering engaging, child-directed lessons and activities
• Supervise and guide students during classroom work cycles, outdoor play, and transitions
• Prepare and maintain Montessori materials and a clean, organized classroom environment
• Observe and document individual student progress and developmental milestones
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom community
• Communicate warmly and professionally with parents, guardians, and staff
• Assist with snack time, lunch, and other daily routines as needed

About the Role

Mariposa Montessori School in Los Gatos, CA is looking for a passionate and nurturing Assistant Teacher to join our dedicated team. This is a wonderful opportunity to support young learners in a child-centered, hands-on educational environment where curiosity and independence are celebrated every day. This position is available in our Toddler classroom for children ages 18 months to 3 years old. Hours of work would be Monday to Friday, 8:15am-4:45pm.

Requirements

• Patient, nurturing, and enthusiastic demeanor with a genuine love for children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to pass a background check and meet state licensing requirements
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
