Job summary

Kiddie Academy seeks an energetic Assistant Teacher in New York, NY. You will support daily activities, mentor children, and assist with lesson planning in a loving, organized classroom environment.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a friendly, professional demeanor, and ability to lift up to 40 pounds. The role offers health benefits and 401K, with hours from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on school days and potential later shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must interact well with children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist, supervise and interact with children during all activities.
• Counsel children on social, academic, or adjustment matters.
• Develop and prepare instructional aids and materials for classroom use.
• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Assist with mealtimes and cleanup to encourage independence.
• Complete daily notes, attendance, and other required paperwork.
• Attend staff meetings and parent meetings as requested.
• Support lead teacher with lesson plans and schedules.
• Ensure equipment is in good working order and properly used.
• Keep classroom organized and orderly.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Helps,supervises and interacts with the children during all activities
• Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
• Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities
• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
• Assists children with mealtimes and clean-up encouraging independence
• Completes all necessary academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
• Works with the lead teacher to prepare and implement classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules
• Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly
• Keeps all items neat and organized
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years
• Pleasant/friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality
• Highly professional and dependable
• Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management
• Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds on a consistent basis throughout the workday to at least waist high

SCHEDULE

• Must be available to work from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.on school days.
• Prefer available to work till 5:30pm/6pm two days a week.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• $19-$21 per hour pending qualification
