Job summary

The Learning Experience Corp. in Bushwick, Brooklyn, is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms on a closing shift (10:00 AM–6:30 PM).

You will assist with daily routines, learning activities, meals, and transitions to ensure a safe and engaging environment for children. Ideal candidates are reliable, energetic, and team-oriented, with a High School Diploma or GED and availability for the stated schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or early childhood experience preferred.
• Must meet applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom routines and learning activities.
• Provide classroom and ratio coverage where needed.
• Work with children across different early childhood age groups.
• Engage children in play, art, music, sensory activities, and hands-on learning.
• Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and transitions.
• Support afternoon routines and create a welcoming experience for families at pick-up.
• Help with end-of-day classroom organization and closing procedures.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment.
• Follow applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements.

Assistant Teacher – Early Childhood Education | Closing Shift

Location: The Learning Experience – Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY
Pay: $19–$21 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM–6:30 PM

The Learning Experience – Bushwick is hiring Assistant Teachers to support our early childhood classrooms and help provide consistency through our afternoon and closing hours.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and prefers a later morning start. You'll work alongside Lead Teachers and provide support across classrooms as needed, helping ensure children have a safe, engaging, and positive experience from classroom activities through end-of-day pick-up.
