Job summary

The Learning Experience – Bushwick is hiring an Assistant Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms during the closing shift. You will work alongside Lead Teachers to provide a safe, engaging experience through activities, meals, and end-of-day routines.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and are flexible, patient, and team‑oriented. Applicants should be available 10:00 AM–6:30 PM, Monday–Friday, in a caring, family‑friendly environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or early childhood experience preferred.
• Comfortable providing support across different classrooms.
• Reliable and consistently available for the 10:00 AM–6:30 PM closing schedule.
• Must meet applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom routines and learning activities
• Provide classroom and ratio coverage where needed
• Work with children across different early childhood age groups
• Engage children in play, art, music, sensory activities, and hands-on learning
• Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and transitions
• Support afternoon routines and create a welcoming experience for families at pick-up
• Help with end-of-day classroom organization and closing procedures
• Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
• Follow applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements

Assistant Teacher – Early Childhood Education | Closing Shift

Location: The Learning Experience – Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY
Pay: $19–$21 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday | 10:00 AM–6:30 PM

The Learning Experience – Bushwick is hiring Assistant Teachers to support our early childhood classrooms and help provide consistency through our afternoon and closing hours.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and prefers a later morning start. You'll work alongside Lead Teachers and provide support across classrooms as needed, helping ensure children have a safe, engaging, and positive experience from classroom activities through end-of-day pick-up.
