Job summary

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB is seeking a part-time, temporary preschool support role at the CSUSB Campus. The 19-hour weekly schedule runs weekdays with a typical open window from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM; some evenings or weekends may be required.

Under supervision, you will assist with tailored activities, supervise students, maintain records, and ensure licensing and health standards are met. CPR/First Aid certification is required.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 24 units in early childhood development/child development/Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies.
  • Extensive knowledge of DAP and experience teaching in an early learning program.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and responsive caregiving; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Organizational and planning skills; ability to lift children; CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Support preparation and implementation of activities tailored to the individual needs of each child (language, social, emotional, creativity, science, cognitive, multicultural, physical).
  • Supervise and work with undergraduate and graduate students and others in daily preschool operations.
  • Maintain records per State guidelines; conduct child assessments and developmental evaluations; communicate with parents and monitor center per licensing regulations.
  • Follow State health and safety guidelines; participate in ongoing staff trainings; 21 hours of professional development annually.
  • Support both preschool classrooms by floating as needed and covering breaks/lunches for other teachers.
  • Limited travel may be required for training, conferences and other professional development opportunities.

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, Staff, Part Time, Non-Benefited position through 6/30/2027 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $17.50-$19.00 per hour.

Location: CSUSB Campus.

Work Schedule

19 hours per week. Variable work schedule based on needs of program; Program is typically open Monday-Friday 7:00AM-5:30PM. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Typical Activities

Under the supervision and direction of classroom master teachers, the incumbent will support the preparation and implementation of activities tailored to the individual needs of each child (in the areas of language, social, emotional, creativity, science, cognitive, multi-cultural, physical, and perceptual) and be a DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices) role model of effective teacher-child interaction in the implementation of the daily operation of the program.

The incumbent will supervise and work effectively with undergraduate and graduate students and others in daily activities of a preschool at a university, including student observations, research, student interns, etc.

The incumbent will maintain records according to State guidelines, maintain child assessments and developmental evaluations, work and communicate effectively with parents and assist in monitoring center according to licensing regulations.

The incumbent will also follow State health and safety guidelines, participate in and conduct on-going staff development trainings and planning meetings. 21 hours of professional development are required annually. Teachers will be responsible for CACFP meal counts when nutrition assistants are not available.

The incumbent will support both preschool classrooms by floating as needed and supporting breaks/lunches for other teachers.

Limited travel may be required for training, conferences and other professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Must have at least 24 units in early childhood development/child development/Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies.
  • Experience:
    • Applicants must have extensive knowledge of DAP and have experience teaching in a early learning program.
  • Other:
    • Applicants must have knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, responsive caregiving, and have excellent interpersonal skills, have a friendly, helpful, professional attitude, be reliable, dependable, punctual, and responsible.
    • Have effective organizational and planning skills.
    • Ability to lift children as needed.
    • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in NAEYC Accredited Program; B.A. in Child Development, Early Childhood, Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies or related field.
  • CTC Teacher Permit.
