Job summary

Arrow Child & Family Ministries is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Teacher in delivering educational and special education services tailored to individual student plans (IEPs/PEPs). This full-time position runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 2,080 hours per year, in Towson, MD.

You will help manage classroom behavior, assist in instruction, contribute to a positive learning environment, and complete attendance, grades, and IEP data logs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required; at least 1 year of experience with children and families.
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe learning environment for students within the scope of administrative policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and manage student behavior in the classroom, school and school-sponsored functions.
  • Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom.
  • Assists in the direct group and individual instruction to students.
  • Stimulate interest and cooperation in individual and group activities.
  • Provide a learning environment that is stimulating and motivating to students who generally have not adjusted well to school.
  • Assist in the timely completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress (attendance records, grades, IEP data logs, portfolios, behavioral logs).
  • May assist in the creation of curricular and remediation materials, as directed by the teacher.
  • In the absence of the teacher, ensures that all instructional plans are implemented.
  • Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Communicates information orally and in writing.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture.
  • Maintain proper rules, safety, and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Inform the teacher and/or administration of all relevant situations.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  • Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.

This position is classified as full-time, with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, totaling 2,080 hours annually.

  • Inform the teacher and/or administration of all relevant situations.
  • Attend trainings and meetings as required.
  • Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to students and families served.
  • Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
  • May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year experience working with children and families, preferably in a school setting. Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred.
