Job summary

The Goddard School located in Sanford, FL is seeking a motivated Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and managing the classroom. Join our school to help ensure a safe, stimulating environment where you can bring energy, enthusiasm and creativity to our collaborative team.

We offer a weekday schedule (Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm), guaranteed 40 hours per week, and benefits including health, vision and dental insurance, tuition assistance, and professional development

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool setting is expected.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and pass state background checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations.

• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities

• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
