Assistant Teacher
Education/Knowledge/Experience
- High School Diploma or GED/CDA Desirable
- 2 years of experience working in a child care setting (desirable)
Function:
- Meet expectations for delivering customer satisfaction and retention.
- Ability to delegate tasks and communicate with Lead teacher as needed.
- Assist in providing a quality program.
- Demonstrate acceptable behavior.
- May share Lead responsibilities with the Lead teacher.
- Comply with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Keep the Director/Lead Teacher informed of any necessary information regarding the care and safety of children.
- Complete timely and accurate documentation according to company and licensing regulations.
- Set a professional example for other employees.
- Assist in any other program needs.
- Attend and participate in parent/staff meetings, training, and center events as requested.
Requirements:
- Excellent organizational skills required.
- Ability to be flexible in assignments, tasks, and work hours, and respond quickly and appropriately to changing environments. Schedule is based on program needs.
- CPR/First Aid Certification and Shaken Baby and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome training or willingness to obtain.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
- For driving positions, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to operate the center's vehicles.
- Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills required. Must possess excellent visual and hearing capabilities to monitor the environment and children’s well-being.
- Obtain 24 hours of child development-focused training annually.
- Adhere to dress code and all other company policies and procedures.
- Cross-train in all age groups to step in for absent teachers.
- Must be available from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm.
- Understand that work hours are not guaranteed to be 40 hours per week and schedules may change at any time.
This job requires physical work inside, outside, and occasionally off-site for field trips.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs continually throughout the day.
- Stand for at least 95% of the day.
- Stoop, sit on the floor, and bend to perform various tasks.
- Have the agility to move from sitting to standing promptly to respond to emergencies.
- Perform activities with children such as jumping, dancing, walking, running, etc., for extended periods.
- Sustain a high level of energy throughout the day.
- Assume postures that allow physical and visual contact with children, including low-level positions.
- Spend prolonged time outdoors as part of routine activities.
- Adapt to a continuously changing environment.
