We are seeking Assistant Teachers for Infant, Toddler and Preschool for CTI's Head Start Early Learning Program. These are full-time, year-round positions perfect for candidates who are eager to work in partnership with parents, staff, and the community to provide quality early childhood educational services and family support.

The Assistant Teacher will work in collaboration with a Lead Teacher to support children's developmental needs and supports parents in their role as the child's first and primary teacher.


This individual will ensure that the classroom is meeting the needs of each child by analyzing classroom assessments and individual child outcomes.


This data will be used to implement intentional curriculum in a nurturing, warm, safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Ensure classroom compliance with all federal, state and local regulations related to Early Education. This includes compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, NAEYC Accreditation and MA Department of Early Education and Care regulations.

  2. Ensure that clean, safe, healthy and developmentally appropriate classroom environment is maintained.

  3. Provide daily leadership and mentoring in the classroom, guiding the work of other educators. Work cooperatively with managers, consultants and other assigned staff and volunteers.



  1. Ensure the creation and implementation of curriculum that meets both group and individual child needs which encourages the cognitive, physical, emotional and social development of each child and family and assures that school readiness goals are being met.

  2. Ensure the completion of health/developmental screenings and other child and program assessments as required.

  3. Ensure the maintenance of required records including observational, behavioral, attendance and other required reports and progress notes.

  4. Maintain effective ongoing communication with parents, Family Service Workers and other parties involved in the child's life. This includes conducting home visits, parent/teacher conferences and case management meetings.

  5. Ensure sight and sound supervision and monitoring of children at all times.

  6. Encourage parents to become engaged in the program, involved in the decision making process through participation on the Policy Council, Parent center Committee, classroom activities and training opportunities.

  7. Seek professional skill development and growth for themselves and others through participation in related skills training, and educational activities.

  8. Protect the rights of children and families from abuse and neglect, by working as a liaison between referred families and the Department of Children & Families.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Desire to work with low income, culturally diverse, and at-risk families and individuals.

  • Excellent Customer Service, organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient computer skills required in basic computer software and data collection systems.

  • CORI/DCF and fingerprinting review prior to employment.

  • Bilingual a plus. The ideal candidate must be proficient in both spoken and written English

  • Excellent crisis management skills.



  • Infant Toddler~ Infant Toddler CDA or Infant Toddler EEC Lead Teacher Certified required. Associate's degree Preferred.

  • Preschool~ Preschool CDA or Preschool EEC Lead Teacher certification required.

  • EEC Certified or ability to become certified in 3 months.



Years of Relevant Work Experience:



  • Work Experience: 3 years teaching experience preferred.1+ years of experience working with low-income individuals or families preferred.
