OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Access, input and retrieve information from computer.
• File and organize Head Start information.

• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Viable means of transportation, and evidence of insurance, valid Iowa driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Minimum High School Diploma/GED with the ability to secure a CDA. Head Start Assistant Teachers must secure CDA within two years from date of hire. Early Head Start Assistant Teachers must secure CDA within one year from date of hire.
• Prefer a candidate to be enrolled in a program that will lead to an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood.
• Use of assessment and promote children’s progress across the standards described in the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth to Five and applicable state early learning and development standards, including for children with disabilities and dual language learners, as appropriate.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work as an effective team member.
• Knowledge of HS Performance Standards, State Licensing rules and NAEYC Accreditation.
• Certifications: Mandatory Reporter, CPR, First Aid, Universal Precautions.
• Limited chauffeur’s license with acceptable driving record to transport children in isolated instances.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force on occasion, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 5-10 pounds constantly, performing such activities as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, including some duties requiring repetitive motion skills, such as keyboarding and computer use.
• Initial physical and one every 3 years thereafter.
