Job summary

The Goddard School of Doylestown on Farm Lane is seeking a dedicated and caring Assistant Teacher to join our team. You will support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, developmentally rich experiences for young learners and help create a warm, collaborative classroom.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; ECE degree preferred.
• Experience in licensed childcare or school setting preferred.
• Understanding of child development including language acquisition.
• Patience, warmth and genuine care for children and families.
• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with classroom team members.
• Strong communication with parents (written and verbal).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Support Lead Teacher with lesson plans and activities.
• Foster social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
• Assist with classroom management and small-group activities.
• Prepare materials and ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Communicate with parents about daily progress.
• Maintain accurate daily records for each child.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for children
• Help foster each child's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
• Assist with classroom management, transitions and small-group activities
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure safety and cleanliness
• Assist in communicating with parents about their child's day, progress and activities
• Maintain accurate daily records and logs for each child
• Adhere to all health, safety and licensing guidelines

Are You a Fit?

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with children in a licensed childcare or school setting preferred
• Strong understanding of child development including language acquisition, emotional regulation and independence-building
• Demonstrates patience, consistency and genuine warmth with children and their families
• Ability to lead and collaborate effectively with classroom team members
• Strong daily communication skills with parents, written and verbal updates are a key part of this role
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
